We woke up bright and early to a hectic, jam-packer pack day. Our morning consisted of buck showers and a rice and beans breakfast then we took a trip to a local poverty stricken community where the people lived in shacks with dirt floors. Although these families had close to nothing, they welcomed us with open arms. We exchanged life stories and experiences as well as a delicious lunch. They gave us a tour of their homes and a glimpse of their everyday lives. We celebrated our beautiful interaction with a piñata party with the children of the community.
Next we headed back to our hostel where we prepared for our first English classes. Everyone was feeling a bit nervous, but it turned out that all the Glimpsers loved teaching the locals no matter how big or small their classes were. We finished the day with the usual nightly meeting and self-reflection, and began to wind down with a little bit of free time. Despite having an exhausting and stressful day we managed to complete every activity with a positive attitude.
After a long tiring day, the time has come to lay down and rest for the many adventures that await us tomorrow. The leaders of the day, Brandon and Liz would like to wish you all at home a good night. We hope you enjoy reading about our many adventures! Make sure to leave a warm comment 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😅😜😡😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😎😎😎😎😎!!!!!
Wow, sounds like a crazy, BUSY day!! So interesting to be invited into the home of a community member. Hopefully it was easier to stretch a dollar in Jinotegs than here, at home! Congratulations on your first tutoring classes ~ the students are fortunate to be working with all of you.
Well, after the last couple of days I am sure you must all be looking forward to your “free” day. I know we are all just anxious to read about your next adventure!
Take care, have fun, and MISS you, ABBY
Go Brandon…leader of the day! 🙂 Hope you guys are having an awesome time!
It was nice of that local community to welcome you all in their home with open hearts. Experiences like these makes one appreciate everything one has. Glad to hear about the teaching challenges that you all have taken on. As they say “If you want to become an expert at something, teach it to someone else”. I am sure this experience will help improve your (English) language grammar, realize your teaching potentials and also give you a sense of accomplishment. Thanks to Brandon, Liz and all leaders for taking time to post daily logs at the end of long, tiring days. We are looking forward to those every night. Also, please upload a group picture from the place you visited, it will give us a better sense of what you all are experiencing. Good luck to everyone, keep learning, keep learning and be positive. Love you, Mithila !
Would love to hear more about tutoring, what the kids liked, what you all learned. Keep up the good work. Luv to Dalebunny.
Thank you Liz & Brandon for this blog. These blogs give us parents a Glimpse 🙂 of how your days are going and if you guys are having fun with this experience it makes us happy. Keep having a great experience and keep sharing.
Love to Marya and hugs to all the glimpsers, coordinators and escorts.
sending spartan hugs keep up the great work
