Hello Glimpsers!

I can’t believe that we are less than a month away from our departure to León, Nicaragua! My name is Emily and I’m excited to be one of the leaders for the June 10th León 2 delegation.

I grew up in San Francisco and went on a Global Glimpse trip to Matagalpa, Nicaragua when I was in high school. It was my first trip out of the country and the longest I had ever been away from my family, and I had an amazing time experiencing the culture, history, and natural beauty of Nicaragua. I even got to milk a cow (pictured below). I had such a good time that I came back to work at Global Glimpse as a summer intern and am now excited to return to Nicaragua as a GG leader to see you all discover new things about the country and about yourselves.

After high school, I went to college in Connecticut at Wesleyan University, where my Global Glimpse trip inspired me to continue traveling – I studied abroad in Vietnam, South Africa, and Brazil. My favorite things to do while traveling are try new foods and visit outdoor places and I’m excited to do both on our trip! After graduating from college I moved back to San Francisco, where get to live near my parents, grandparents, and younger brother and sister. I’ve been working doing dental and vision screenings on children in preschools for the past two years, and I’ll be starting medical school at UC Davis in July to become a doctor.

I’ve really enjoyed getting to check in with some of you on the phone already and I can’t wait for our trip to begin! As we get closer to the trip, feel free to post on the blog to introduce yourselves and look out for updates from Carrie and myself.

See you all soon!

Emily
