Our delegation have arrived safely!

After a long flight, our bleary eyed travellers slept the night in Managua before taking the three hour trip up the winding mountain roads to our homebase – Jinotega!

Ricardo and his family – our hosts at Hotel Kiuras – treated us to some great welcoming Nica food – chicken with tostones – fried plantain. After three seminars led by Programme Coordinators Alex and Julia and our GG Leader Tony, we put on our rain jackets and braved the changeable Jinotega weather for out City Tour! We checked out the pretty cathedral, main square and university which was a prison during the Civil War. We then sheltered from the rain in the cute Cafe Sylvia and experienced our first Nicaraguan ice cream!

After a dinner of traditional gallo pinto and enchiladas we had our First Nightly meeting and spent time getting to know each other better. The group has got off to a great start and we’re looking forward to sharing some amazing experiences together!

In this photo there was an amazing rainbow behind us but unfortunately the camera could not capture it!
