Today was a long day… We woke up early, showered, and went to breakfast. Afterwards we went to “El Ministerio de la Familia” to finish up the CAP project we started yesterday. We worked tirelessly for about 4 hours and then had lunch before working for another three hours. Next, the locals set up a nice thank you presentation. It was great seeing that they appreciated what we had done because we had put hours of work into it. The end result was much better than I had imagined with us polishing up all the desks, painting the classroom, building a table and two benches. Everyone played their part and the finished product was amazing. It’s a great feeling to do something nice for people who could really use it, and we’re glad we contributed.

Today was one of those days I hope I never forget, simply because myself and my fellow glimpsers helped out the individuals at “El Ministerio de la Familia.” I know I speak for all of my colleagues when I say that we all enjoyed day two of the CAP project. We painted designs on the wall for the classroom to make it look more lively. We created an area for the elders to have some down-time, and we also threw in a couple of inspirational quotes in the classroom for the children if they ever feel discouraged. One of my personal favorites is, “There are no limits to what you can achieve.” Now, of course, it feels nice to have good things done for you but the gift of giving gives you a whole different type of feeling, and you just want to continue giving. However, I didn’t just give but I gained something as well, and that is the knowledge that it is better to give than to receive.
