Today was an amazing day filled with much Nicaraguan culture.  We started the day at El Jalacarte, a farm in the mountains north of Estelí, which has rock carvings in the mountain rock.  Don Alberto is the gifted carver who shared his humble home, amazing art, and wisdom with us.

Later, we returned to Estelí and went to the Cultural Center.  There we met with Juan Carlos, a local artist, who make art from tusa (corn husks).  He shared his craft with us and instructed us on how to make our own tusa artwork.  After we made the tusa art,  we spent our hours learning to dance the traditional Nicaraguan dances.  We learned the local polka, marimba, and salsa dances from Hugo a local dancer and instructor.  We even shared a few of our own moves.

Tomorrow we will learn how to live like a local Nicaraguan, as we will return to the mountains outside of Estelí.  Hopefully, we will be able to share pictures!
