Welcome family and friends! Besides having to wake up at 5am, today was one very challenging day as we all had to face the struggles that the community Robledal has to go through each and every day. This community not only has to face limited electricity, but has a past with difficult to reach resources such as clean water. It was only until this upcoming year that this community has been able to have access to fresh, clean water at their reach. Since each family had the opportunity to host two glimpsers, they were able to participate in many activities and daily chores such as  sweeping, making tortillas, and washing clothes by hand. Many glimpsers such as Jessica mentioned, “the people there were so welcoming, you knew you were in good hands.”

To end our visit with the Robledal community, we decided to gift a piñata as a sign of our appreciation. It was an amazing experience getting to know the area and watching the children of the families smile at receiving their candy. Since our challenge was to live off of a dollar, the bus ride back to Estelí was silent, as we were not able to play any music. Food was also limited. We were only given a small sandwich in the morning to eat on the bus and rice with bread for the evening.

After reaching  our hostel, us glimpsers did a quick self-reflection and watched the movie, “Dreaming Nicaragua” to prepare us for tomorrow’s activity: poverty day. Again thank you family and friends for keeping up with the blog and make sure to drop any comments!
