Hello everybody,
My name is Matthew Clark, I am seventeen years old and attend Emery High School located in Emeryville, CA. Today I was in charge of your children as “El Lider del Dia” or in English “Leader of the Day.” Today we focused on Global Business, and had the following question in mind, “How is the US related to Nicaragua through the business you visited today?” After our morning meeting and breakfast we had a seminar about Global Business to help us better our understanding of this question. Our main discussion at this seminar was about the popular social movement “fair trade.” We covered mostly the fact that their once honest goals and visions have become diluted and clouded only by the dreams of money and status. With this in mind we headed to the chocolate factory and began our day. While there we had a tour of the museum and the chocolate production itself. After lunch and a few other things we headed off to “solacafe” and learned about the production of coffee. To finish things off we had an extremely productive day and your kids are in safe hands.
Much Love,
Matthew
Matagalpa seems to be a place with lots of open space for travel, gardening, and hikes, not crowded like I thought it would be. The food seems interesting. I sure wish I was there with you Matthew. I am glad that everyone is having fun. I can’t wait for you to get back though, love Grandma!
