Today was Free Day! Unlike other days we got to sleep more, but out of surprise nobody did. We had cereal for breakfast at 9, which was different from the usual. After the delicious breakfast we debated about free day. Everyone wanted to do different things, but without arguing with each other we came to a conclusion. We decided to chill in the morning. Everyone was eagerly waiting for today as today was the day we got to call home after 5 days. The morning was full of emotions as we got to share our stories with our families and inform them that we are doing fine.
After we called home we planned tutoring lessons, and CAP project designs. The design for the CAP project is a basketball court, so we came up with the design materials list and the cost. After this we had sancocho for lunch, a traditional Dominican stew, which was very delicious. After we ate our lunch. We went on to enjoy our free time. Some explored the city and some stayed back at the hostel playing with our friends and GG leaders. At 5 we had our second English tutoring class, which was so much better than our first as we were comfortable with the people we were tutoring. We had dinner after the class, ended our day with our nightly meeting. Stay tuned for tomorrow!!!!
FAST FACTS:
Weather: the weather today was very hot and humid. It felt like one of the hotter days, but its fine because we spent the day doing what we want. Much of us chose to stay out of the sun as much as possible.
Best Meal: The best meal was breakfast because we had cereal. Since most of us eat cereal in the morning, that brought us back home to the states.
Best Moment: The best part of the day was teaching the kids. What made it so special was that as we were teaching them, they were also teaching us about Spanish at the same time.
Biggest Takeaway: Our biggest takeaway was when we got to call back home. After 5 days everyone got to connect with his or her families and share their memories with them. Also our parents asked us a lot of questions about how we are doing which is really appreciated, because its shows how much we are loved. <3
Glad you guys enjoyed your free day. I was so happy to hear from my son (Irvin) and hear his voice. It brought tear to my eyes because I miss him so much. Get some rest because it’s back to work tomorrow lol
