**This post is a day late due to our power outage last night**
Hello everyone, My name is Jared Franklin and I was the leader of the day for our first free day! During free day, we split up into two big groups and went around Granada and did some sight seeing and bought some things. Both groups started out going to the Waffle House for breakfast – it was delicious! After breakfast the groups did their own thing. Highlights from both included: visiting La Merced, a church near the center of town, visiting the local market, and shopping for souvenirs. For lunch we all met up at to La Favorita. While there we ran into the other Global Glimpse delegation and some of us saw some familiar faces. After lunch we split up once again and went to Cafe De La Soniras where some of us bought different handwoven souvenirs. I myself bought a hammock, while others got theirs customized. Some students visited an art gallery and others went swimming! After our free day, we all went back to the hostel and had English tutoring prep, then did a CAP (Community Action Project) activity preparing for tomorrow’s plans. During dinner we realized that the power had gone out because of an electrical fire that had happened across the street. As a result, we all had candle lit dinners. It was both different and fun. At 6 pm we headed out for English tutoring at the school. At 8 we headed back home for our Living Like a Local seminar to help us prepare for our time with the locals tomorrow. After this, we held our nightly meeting and I handed the torch to the new LDDs, Jade and Adrian.
Today I was pleasantly surprised that everyone else was awake before me. This was surprising because we had a free day and had the opportunity to sleep in, but no one seemed to want to. I was proud of us going out and sight seeing today to connect to the culture more rather then stay in on our day off. Being Lider Del Dia was pretty easy for me as it was a free day and we split into two groups so I wasn’t responsible for as many people as usual and had a fun time overall. I learned that I am really easy going and during my time as leader of the day I found I should be a bit louder and be more authoritative when getting the attention of the group during head counts and rain claps.

Thank you Jared for writing the blog today! I have to admit that I was worry and anxious about not seeing a report from yesterday. Now, I can see that everyone was having fun (except for the electrical fire ?!).
Stephanie I am glad to see pictures of you having a good time with other Glimpsers. I was showing all the pictures and blog to Abuelita Maria and Ama Juanita, they were really happy for you! Cristian left to LA yesterday after celebrating Ulisess birthday. We went to Carolina’s baby shower today. Everyone is asking about you and are happy for you.
Well, one week is gone and memories have been created, one more to go.
Te quiero y extraño mucho!?

Hi Faith,
No power, okay so that explains why we woke up and saw no post this morning.
Well I am guessing for some of you the free day could have been real long while for others if could have been a full day if they shopped most of the day.
I thought the waffle house looked pretty cool and the pool looked very nice!
Hopefully that was refreshing.
I was happy to know you guys saw some familiar faces today and most of all, I am GLAD you guys are safe!!!!
We are praying you guys so make the most of the days you have left there.
Keep cool and remember we love you!!!
Have fun, keep learning, and be careful!
Love,
Dad & Mom

Dear Jared,
Thank you so much for you post. We were very concerned that there was no post, but were pleasantly surprised this morning by your wonderful recap of your free day. I’m sorry about the fire and the power outage, but a candlelight dinner sounds like a lot of fun and very memorable! I am so glad you all got a day off and were able to tour around and enjoy yourselves. Thank you so much for calling home! It was the highlight of my week to hear from you and know that your are doing so incredibly well. I am so proud of you! Please continue challenging yourself to the fullest. You have less than a week left in this amazing adventure and need to make the most of it!
Have fun with all your fellow glimpsers. I hope each day gets even better and better!
We love you so much
