**This post is a day late due to our power outage last night**

Hello everyone, My name is Jared Franklin and I was the leader of the day for our first free day! During free day, we split up into two big groups and went around Granada and did some sight seeing and bought some things. Both groups started out going to the Waffle House for breakfast – it was delicious! After breakfast the groups did their own thing. Highlights from both included: visiting La Merced, a church near the center of town, visiting the local market, and shopping for souvenirs. For lunch we all met up at to La Favorita. While there we ran into the other Global Glimpse delegation and some of us saw some familiar faces. After lunch we split up once again and went to Cafe De La Soniras where some of us bought different handwoven souvenirs. I myself bought a hammock, while others got theirs customized. Some students visited an art gallery and others went swimming! After our free day, we all went back to the hostel and had English tutoring prep, then did a CAP (Community Action Project) activity preparing for tomorrow’s plans. During dinner we realized that the power had gone out because of an electrical fire that had happened across the street. As a result, we all had candle lit dinners. It was both different and fun. At 6 pm we headed out for English tutoring at the school. At 8 we headed back home for our Living Like a Local seminar to help us prepare for our time with the locals tomorrow. After this, we held our nightly meeting and I handed the torch to the new LDDs, Jade and Adrian.

Today I was pleasantly surprised that everyone else was awake before me. This was surprising because we had a free day and had the opportunity to sleep in, but no one seemed to want to. I was proud of us going out and sight seeing today to connect to the culture more rather then stay in on our day off. Being Lider Del Dia was pretty easy for me as it was a free day and we split into two groups so I wasn’t responsible for as many people as usual and had a fun time overall. I learned that I am really easy going and during my time as leader of the day I found I should be a bit louder and be more authoritative when getting the attention of the group during head counts and rain claps.
