Hi guys, I am Vanessa(Jihyeon) and happy 4th of July!! We woke up at 6:00am today. After having a Aid&Development Seminar with the GG Leaders, we went to La Garnacha. La Garnacha is a farming community. We split into 2 group and had a farm tour, make an artwork with rocks, and tortillas. Different than other days, we ate delicious pasta and salad for lunch at there. Next we had a discussion with Pablo, a community leader, and a school teacher from there about what we can do for our Community Action Project (CAP). Due to time difficulty we couldn’t have the second CAP seminar by coordinators after we travel back to Esteli. Therefore to compensate we would have the CAP seminar tomorrow! We went straight to English classes  at Casa de Culturas. After classes we went to a different restaurant called Papa Jam’s to eat pizza to celebrate 4th of July. 🙂

Overall, we had a nice time but due to having such a long day, people got tired towards the end. Having a tour at La Garnacha gave us a lot of interesting information. At La Garnacha farmers use the land itself and handmade organic soil to farm vegetables or any crops. One of the interesting fact was that, they use worms to eat the cow feces in order to form the organic fertilizer. We get to learn how to make tortillas which was super interesting and delicious. Listening to all the stories from Pablo and people from the community was really interesting. Being a Leader of the Day wasn’t easy but throughout the day I learned a lot from people, GG leaders, and coordinators. Then bye.
