Our second day here in Constanza was jam-packed with learning activities, orientation and preparation for the next two weeks in the Dominican Republic, and the first encounter with our amazing Global Glimpse Host Youth Ambassadors! In the program seminars we discussed topics such as Dominican culture and history, safety in the Dominican Republic, how students can prepare to take on the Líder del Día role, and how to design English tutoring lessons. After lunch, we met the Global Glimpse Youth Ambassadors based here in Constanza! The Youth Ambassadors are local youth who volunteer with Global Glimpse because they want to give back to their community and share their culture and city with the Global Glimpsers. They and the Glimpsers will be working together to teach community English classes together and complete a Community Action Project. They are also excited to spend time hanging out and sharing their favorite spots in Constanza on our free days.

This afternoon, we all went on a city tour led by our fantastic program coordinators, Felix and Heyssel, and enjoyed paletas (popsicles) in the bleachers of the neighborhood baseball field. Later in the day, the Glimpsers learned about best practices in tutoring English and designed their very own lesson plans that they will be teaching to local students tomorrow!

Tomorrow, we will begin the first phase of our Community Action Project that students will lead, and have our first day teaching English lessons. Check back tomorrow for more!
