Hola familia y amigos,
Today was focused on adventure and exploring the amazing attributes the DR has to offer! The day was concentrated on spending time with our friends in a different setting.
We were able to go with Cesar and Maria, a couple from Bahoruco, Barahona, Dominican Republic. The couple focuses on the Larimar a stone that can only be founded in Barahona, DR. When being at the workshop we learned that it was named after the founder’s daughters name, Larissa, and the Spanish word for sea, mar. The stone is claimed to energizer and calm the soul. It is used to create rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. We had the opportunity to see how Cesar makes a necklaces and also shop in the small gift shop located in their own home.
After the workshop, we went to the beach which was exciting for all of us since the water was actually blue and clear. A strange thing for all of us was seeing that there was no sand on the beach but rocks instead. When we first stepped foot in the water we were surprised to find the water warm and see our feet from how clear and beautiful it was.
We are currently preparing for “Living Like A Local” by living with no electricity or running water! So please ask us how the day went when we call on Monday.
To Stephanie’s family, I love you and don’t miss me too much I’ll be home before you know it!
To Leslie’s family, I can’t wait to see you guys at the airport and bring me T-Pumps when you come and pick me up!
Hi Stephanie, I enjoy very much checking all your group pictures, I’m happy to see that you are having a good time. I’m proud for you for not using your phone all the time, love you!! – MAX 2 THE MILLION!
Hi Kaylyn!
You say you’re not a beach person but it sure looks like you’re having a good time!, It’s probably because the water is warm. I bet you’re glad you brought your water shoes with all the rocks there. It’s astonishing to see how beautiful and crystal clear the water is. Huge shout out for all the amazing pictures throughout the blogs!!
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s update. Love Mom and Dad
P.S. Hoping you were able to pick up a little something at Cesar’s gift shop. (HInt, hint 🙂
Well now, that doesn’t look like the little introvert I dropped off at the airport! Haha.
Warmest wishes!
Carol and Korra
P.S. Korra is eating a new food– it’s the raw diet, except I cook it. Lol she has not missed a meal!
Hi Daisha,
What a beautiful picture;) I enjoy reading about your groups outing everyday. The Warriors won, it was a great game. They are the champs! Dad and Daniella were so happy! We love you Mom and Dad and family ❤️
Viet-Hai, your trip blog is making me so nostalgic for the DR! I’m thrilled that you are experiencing this wonderful country through GG. That beach photo is making me so jealous!!! So happy for you to have this life-changing experience. I can’t wait to catch up when we return to school. Remember to stay hydrated, stay positive, and stay open to everything. And eat mofongo!!! Much love, your mentor, Ms. Kim
Hey Benjamin! I MISS YA SO MUCH. I am so happy for you and that your new friends are out there doing big things and having fun. When you come back let’s go to the beach with Tiffany and Karen too! Oh and the Equality March in SJ was so successful. A lot of our Interactors enjoyed it so much, we just wished you were there with us. Come home safely, love ya.
Beach day! Looks like you are having an amazing trip – so glad that you can share this experience with fellow students. I wish we could all be there with you! Love, Mom, Dad and Callum
Hi Benjamin: I like it very much the picture of your group at the sea and beach, I wish to be there too to enjoy the warm sea water, I hope it will cure your itchy elbow. Did you get any souvenir from the Larimar stone workshop? Love, Mom.
Hi Lovie!
We miss you very much!! Great shot of everyone at the beach. The water looks so beautiful & clear…. How fun you all must have had. We didn’t make it to the parade but watched it on tv instead…. don’t worry we recorded it for you 🙂 Dad promised we’ll attend next one (hopefully next year!! Go Dubs!!) Nattie is doing really well at her new daycare but i’m sure she misses her favorite Auntie 🙂 Wesley misses you too!! Can’t wait to read about the next adventures. Love you!!
Hi Sydney,
I hope you got me a Larimar stone. I could use some calming from the summer camp kids. We saw your photo and the water is just how you like it, crystal clear. It must feel really good considering it’s so hot. Living like a local is going to be an eye opening experience and makes you appreciate the little things: running water and electricity.
Max misses his human pillow:)
Sorry we missed your call…….
Love to you, Dad, Mom, Cole
