Hey everyone! Another Global Glimpse – Esteli update coming to you from Maricela!

On this hot and sunny morning, we had an amazing opportunity to wake up at7:30!!!!!! We all took nice, long, cold showers and made our way over to breakfast where we had another beautiful plate of gallo pinto and a quesada. After finishing (and stacking!) all of our plates, we came back and grabbed our things for an adventure downtown.

Our first stop was the Internet Café, where we talked on the phone with family, friends and loved ones. It made us extremely emotional to finally get to hear their amazing voices again and tell them how much we have missed them. We shed some tears in the small shop (and may have happily steamed up the booth windows) as we shared our short but important conversations with each other. After all of that, we made our way down to our favorite ice cream shop and enjoyed some delicious ice cream to distract us from the humidity. We headed back to the hostel once again to eat some lunch and then got ready for our 3rd tutoring day by prepping a new lesson for the Nica students

Another bonus of Free Day = another period of free time! So, we rushed back to the grocery market as a whole group to find some much needed snacks and goodies. We splurged our money on Hot Cheetos, drinks, and lots and lots of cookies. On our walk back home, we came upon a popular gift shop (currently can’t remember the name 😣) and stood under an awning for twenty minutes while it rained just waiting for it to open. We bought many things, thinking of our family and friends back home, searching for the right things to buy them. Sadly, most of us spent the rest of our Córdobas there. After carrying our snacks and full bags of gifts back through the busy streets, we made our way over to the hostel. After a quick nap and some card games, we headed over to English tutoring even though we were exhausted. We got through the rain safely and had a very relaxed day with the students.

The rain kept half of the kids away so we had smaller groups today. After ice breaker games and group grammar work, we finally got to clean up the classroom and went straight to Buffet Estelí. We all enjoyed a much needed plate of food after our free day and headed back home. After another great passing of the leadership duties and a nightly meeting, we are now making our way back into bed to prepare for another big (and super early 4am) day tomorrow. We can’t wait. 😊

Yours truly, Maricela

P.S. I fell off my chair at dinner tonight. It was hilarious.
