Team Riobamba, I cannot wait to meet you guys and have fun learning and seeing Ecuador!
I’m extremely curious to get down there, as this summer will be my 19th anniversary since I’ve been to Ecuador! 19 years ago, I spent a month in Peru and then a month in Ecuador, studying Spanish and travelling around. I have very fond memories.
I have fond memories of the country, the people, the food, and the vistas.
I’m a mom of two kids–Peyton is 13 (boy) and Lola is 11 (girl). I’ve been married to my husband, Peter, for 17 years. I teach English and social studies at The Professional Performing Arts School in NYC. I teach high school students. I live an hour away from NYC, in the foothills of a beautiful hilly and foresty area with lots of parks and outdoor activities.
I love to travel. Besides Ecuador and Peru, I’ve spent time in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua (with Global Glimpse 2 summers ago), Israel, England, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Greece, Thailand, and Korea (I chaperoned a trip there 17 years ago). I love to teach students about the benefits of travel and getting out of their comfort zone.
I am also a yoga instructor and hope to do some yoga in Ecuador with the students or the locals. It would be a lot of fun.
In my free time, I like to read, hang out with family and friends, and eat good food.
I am so curious to see how Ecuador has changed since I’ve been there.
It was a pleasure meeting you today. Safe travels to all of you. Can’t wait to read the daily blogs. As a mother I struggle with letting go, but I know this is a great opportunity for my precious daughter Carmen. I don’t know if she has access to read the blog daily also, but if she doesn’t please tell her I LOVE & MISS her dearly.
As I write this you are 30 minutes from Riobamba. Wishing you all a restful night. I cannot wait to hear about the events of each day and learn about each and every person on this your trip. Michele, Christie, Melissa and Ana Maria, thank you for the work you do and for giving all involved a wonderful experience. Please send lots of love to Sara and her friends both old and new!
The long anticipated travel to Ecuador has finally come. The Richbourg family would like to thank you Michelle and all the adults on the team for sharing in Alexia’s first time travel abroad experience. As a mom, I am of course nervous but I know that my baby will be in great hands with the GG team. Have fun. Alexia, I am proud of you for making the choice to experience something so amazing.
So glad you have safely arrived in Quito. Please let me know if I am writing to the correct blog with the group with my daughter Michelle Sale.
Hi Michelle,
All sounds wonderful! Hope you all had a good night’s sleep after your long travel day. We love you and enjoy all your moments!
