Hello Family and Friends! Another beautiful day here in Estelí, Nicaragua! Perfect weather for our first, much needed, “Free Day.” Us Glimpsers were excited to hear that we were finally going to get the chance to catch up on some sleep, that was much appreciated after these past couple of days. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast provided by Buffet Estelí and soon found ourselves taking advantage of our free time by joining in a circle and playing our favorite game, UNO.

After a LONG game of UNO we then decided to make some phone calls to our loved ones, and at only 1 Cordoba a minute (less than a cent back in the states) we made sure we informed them of all the fun activities and new friends we have made so far here in Nicaragua. “Phone calls home are always so emotional” says Crystal as the Glimpsers all shed a tear of joy to the wonderful sounds of our loved ones voices, whom we have not talked to in almost a week.

We then went to explore the yummy places Estelí had to offer as we all agreed to try a smoothie shop that “was almost better than Jamba Juice” says Clara. As some made their final calls back home, a group of us went to a near by supermarket, which was like Christmas all over again, to stock up on snacks and essentials which we were all excited about.

After lunch, we went to explore the souvenir shops in Estelí with you guys on our minds as we shopped around the stores and local vendors to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones. All together we probably got around 60 bracelets and about 30 key chains. Btw I got you the perfect bracelet Mom <3.

It's so fun to spend $. We went souvenir shopping and grocery shopping. These are a few of the juice flavors available here.

After exploring around we walked back to the Hostel to another intense game of UNO with Frannie as our winner. The rest of our free time was committed to finishing up tutoring prep for our English classes, which was quite successful as we all received lots of laughs and love from all our students. We then topped the night off with dinner at Buffet Estelí and our usual nightly meeting where I challenged the next El Líder Del Dìa, Rocio, to braid her luscious locks in less than 15 seconds, with success we went over the schedule for tomorrow and finished off the night with our unity clap, in which our word was “relaxation”.

It was a fun and adventurous day that we all very much enjoyed and needed. Looking forward to these next couple of weeks with my new best friends! Till next time 🙂

Oh! And shout out to all the families and loved ones reading our blogs! We love you guys, be sure to leave a comment, we promise we read them at our nightly meetings! (And especially to Carla’s family who she says is out partying right now with out her.) Goodnight.

Yours Truly,

Leeza Davis.
