Today was our first day without a certain agenda set for us, and the supervision was something less than we had before as well. Being leader of the day, I had a different experience that I enjoyed very much. This morning I helped Junie and Amy split up everyone into two equal groups. For some reason, getting out of the hostel took an excessive amount of time, but we eventually set out to our first stop, Café Sonrisa. It was a popular spot that everyone was set on going to, so no one was opposed. From there my group with Junie were the first to head out to the internet cafe. I had been one of the first to call my parent, and others… but neither answered. I decided to make a call at the end and luckily my mom answered, which really made my whole day. From there we got smoothies, and went to lunch, maybe getting lost along the way..thankfully Marshall took the lead and got us un-lost. From there we went to the Mercado, and we were basically the most touristy tourists out there, buying everything in sight. I had been with Mimi, Anna M., and Anna G.J. in my subgroup and they made my time even better. As we went home, we got ready for English Tutoring prep, and headed out in a rush soon after. Tutoring had been a success, for example: Glimpsers taking pictures with their students was a highlight of everyone’s day. As we wound down and everyone came together, we all agreed on one thing. Even though we weren’t all together, the stories we had to tell each other when we met back up amounted to more than we had ever thought. This first free day was a great day to be leader and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it any other way.
