Hello everyone ! We hope your day was as AMAZING as ours was. Today Guadalupe and I ( Carla) were Liders Del Dia for Fun Day! Today’s main goal was to keep everyone enthusiastic and positive, despite the 6 hour bus drive. As Liders del Dia we woke up at five in the morning, which was an hour earlier than everyone else. Even though it was early in the morning, a cold shower did the trick acting like a shot of espresso. At six o’clock we grabbed Jacob’s speaker and i pod ( Big Love to him), we began to play Calvin Harris previous hit “Slide” to awaken our fellow Glimpsers. Most of them woke up with smiles on their faces, while others not so much. We’re teenagers what can we say.

The Glimpsers had 30 minutes to get ready and head out. We continued to play music to get everyone’s spirits high. While waiting for everyone, Carla was having some fun of her own. Here is a back story, yesterday was Carla’s seventeenth birthday!!! So we had to go big and celebrate. Resulting in having crazy amounts of left over balloons. Yeah, so Carla made some pretty loud BOOM BOOMS (she popped 3 balloons). Everyone was WOKE. Such a great way to start our Fun Day!

At  6:30 breakfast was ready, we had slices of watermelon, melon, and banana with three choices of pan dulce (sweet bread). Which was a fantastic meal and was eaten fairly quick. As we enjoyed the pan dulce, the camera crew from GG head quarters came to film us for the day for the next three days. Some of the students in our delegation were chosen to be featured in a upcoming video showing what it’s like to be part of Global Glimpse. By the time it was seven we were a bit behind schedule due to the fact everyone went to the bathroom before the 3 hour drive to Monkey Hut. We  spent an hour on the bus before our first pit stop at a gas station called Punto (which had amazing bathrooms, might I add). The first hour on the bus was filled with excitement to reach the lake. Everyone began to sing along with the music from the bus’ radio. Further into the long drive more and more began to fall asleep, us included. The road to monkey hut had several horses, cows, stray dogs, and vendors which we do not  usually see in the states.

Our second stop was at the Mercado de Artesenias (handcraft market). After getting off the bus, our GG Leader Alex split us into groups of four. We explored the market and did a little shopping. Many Glimpsers were on the search to find Rylan’s dream cowboy hat, which was a big success! Though we only spent 30 minutes at the market, many came back with large hauls and new stories to tell. One of them being two boys selling handmade flowers made from palmas. We boarded the bus, did a quick head count to ensure that we were all together, and went on our way to Tip Top ( their version of KFC). We ordered to go and ate on the bus. It was a mutual agreement that the chicken was BOMB!  After lunch we arrived to Monkey Hut! Where the Lago de Agua Dulce (fresh water lake) was located inside a volcano’s crater. An exciting new experience to take back home with us! Everyone was super excited to arrive and get to go be in the lake. We all quickly changed into our swim attire, added a life vest for safety, and rented some towels for $2! What a steal!  We spent an hour and a half at the lake and then we headed back to the hostel ( another three hour bus drive) we all passed out on the way back and some still sang on the bus.  We made it back to the hostel just in time for dinner and afterwards we showered and got ready for our living like a local seminar and nightly meeting. Overall it was a GREAT DAY!
