Hola from sunny San Juan!
Today was our fun day and last day in San Juan L. The first thing we did was wake up at 7 am, and then we got ready for the day. At 8 o’clock we walked to Onaney’s restaurant for fulfilling breakfast. At 9 we had a letter of appreciation seminar, in which we wrote letters for donors and supporters of global glimpse while we got to add a personal touch too. We shared with them what our favorite moments of the trip were, how we felt about being here in the Dominican Republic, and what the experience means too all of us. At 10 am we got on our bus and headed to the beach, El Quemaito! The ride took longer than expected but we got there at noon. As soon as we got to the beach we ate lunch right away. The beach was a pebble beach, but the water was clear, calm, and felt amazing! All twenty-two of us Glimpsers swam in the warm ocean, some threw a baseball back and forth, or we just laid down on the shore soaking up the sun until it was time to leave. Around 4 o’clock we all got on the bus and headed back to San Juan.
We arrived back at the hotel around 6 pm with some of the ambassadors waiting for us. We had about 45 minutes of free time left so some of us exchanged money, showered, or went to the supermarket and stocked up on snacks. 7 o’clock rolled around and it was time for dinner! We walked to Onaneys for our last dinner and met some more ambassadors there. Today’s dinner was an extended dinner since it was the last time we will see our ambassadors. During dinner we sat and talked with ambassadors, took pictures, and exchanged our social media. We had ice cream and then we all played a game suggested by Janice called angel. The way the game is played is, we form two parallel lines and one person walks between the two lines with their eyes closed and everyone in the lines whispers them something without the person who’s walking really knowing who it is. They could tell them something nice or something they like about them, anything they wanted to say really. At first mostly everyone was hesitant, but as soon as we got into it everyone was laughing, having fun with the game, and getting emotional when something personal was said. Throughout this trip some of us really bonded with the ambassadors so it was an emotional good-bye, we didn’t want to leave them yet due to the fact that we don’t know when we will ever see them again! They walked us back to our hotel and we had another long good-bye! We all hope we could see them again one day in the future, and show them around in America where were from.
After the long hugs and sad goodbyes were done we finished to day off with the daily nightly meeting, which was the last one here in San Juan. Everyone should now be packed and ready to head to Santo Domingo to spend our last day in the Dominican Republic before we head back to the Bay Area. See you soon!
