This morning we woke up at 7:30AM and had breakfast together before heading over to Puedo Leer Biblioteca to work on the second day of our CAP project. While we were there, we continued working on building the bookshelf, mural, and table.

As Leaders of the Day, we were able to experience first-hand what it is like to see a large group of people work hard to leave their mark in Nicaragua. While watching and facilitating, something that we learned today was that when people communicate and work together, the job goes by faster. As one of our Global Glimpsers, Stephanie, says, “Teamwork makes the dream work!”

Something that surprised us most today was seeing even the shyest people being able to work with people that they’ve barely met. We are really proud that we’ve kept our persistence throughout the first and second CAP days and are excited to leave our mark in Nicaragua.

Some of the most inspiring people we worked with today were the children from the community that are voluntarily working with us to improve their library. They helped us sand the wood that we were using to build the table and bookshelf and were really creative with the flashcards that we were making. Being Leaders of the Day was a really good but tough experience because we had a lot of fun and were able to practice our leadership skills. Although, it was tough to get everyones attention at times, we stayed persistent and positive. Something that we learned about ourselves today was that we always have room for growth as leaders. At times we might think that we have it all under control and that we know enough but there is always, always, room for more to grow and learn from. At the end of the day, we are proud of the work we did today and will continue to put our all into everything we do.

Love,

Genesis and Kelly
