My name is Breanne and I’m one of your Global Glimpse Leaders for the June 4-22nd trip to Esteli, Nicaragua!  I have never been before, so I’m excited to experience the beauty and culture of the country together!

My passion for service and cultural exchange led me to participate in an Alternative Spring Break trip in college to Villa El Savador, Peru. I was immersed in another language and culture – and soaked up the sights, smells, and sounds of Peru. I learned the personal stories of the abuelitos (grandparents) and truly fell in love with a community I had never known existed just a few months before. The experience took my understanding to another level. I had not only learned about the importance of cross-cultural understanding in class, but I was able to experience it first-hand abroad. That experience changed my life like little else could. I have begun to understand that the world is simultaneously very large and very small. I have witnessed extreme poverty and the genuine happiness a familiar smile brings. I have studied foreign education systems, and am humbled by the similarities across student populations. I have made friends without even speaking the same language and have come to care about issues that are bigger than my daily stresses.  It is my hope that this trip will be as life changing for you, as my trip was for me.  I urge you to approach this trip with an open mind and an open heart – because together, we have the opportunity to not only give, but learn so much from the communities in Nicaragua and each other.

I currently work as the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admission at the University of Southern California Price School of Public Policy, but in my free time I love cooking, photography, and all things travel-related.  I look forward to connecting with you all over the phone before the trip to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Until then, please feel free to reach out to me via email at [email protected].  I can’t wait to meet you all soon!
