My name is Jillian Ubides-Gonzalez (Jill or Jillian is fine) , I am one of your chaperones on this trip. Before we go on this wonderful trip- that I cannot wait to experience with everyone I wanted to reach out and introduce myself. I have been an English as a second language teacher for the past five years in both the Bronx and currently in Greenwich, CT. I am a New Yorker born and raised with a gypsy soul that loves to travel. I have traveled a lot for internships, teaching English abroad, leisure, and to give back. I can’t wait to check South America off the list of continents I have been- and you guys get to also!! I am bilingual- Spanish speaking so for those who are concerned abroad- do not worry! we will all learn to speak Spanish, and I will be pleased to help you with anything you may need. Entiendo Espanol perfecto, hablo por lo menos como un biligual pero para escribirlo es un poquito dificil.- I am really so excited to travel abroad and have everyone gain something out of this! Throughout my travels I keep a journal per continent- I am very excited to see all of you blog, take photos, and document this experience in a #unplugged way, we are going to kick back it old school! 😉 This trip will allow us to work together, get out of our comfort zones, and really have and gain something amazing!

I believe that by doing Global Glimpse we are not only investing in ourselves but in the future of America. Global Glimpse is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will change these adolescents lives forever.Traveling will expose these students and allow them to grow into empathetic, culturally aware, giving, and kind young adults.Having the opportunity to travel at such a young age, give back, and immerse in a country and culture that is both familiar and unfamiliar to their world will be something that will impact their lives forever. For some of these students, it is the first time they are able to explore the world and exit the life they know giving them a chance to grow and get out of their comfort zone. I have been blessed to travel, get out of my comfort zone, and realize that the world is such a beautiful place! The connections one makes abroad and the eye opening experiences one gain from exploring is something that you can never explain. One of my favorite quotes is “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta- All I can say is that it gives me such excitement that this summer I will be traveling, making memories, and be apart of something that will impact these young adults lives forever, hoping that they gain the same wanderlust emotion and story telling abilities I have!!
