We hope everybody is having a splendid time at home. It is Brandon and Cameron here from Esteli, Nicaragua!
Today was the first official CAP Delivery Day and it was a success. To explain to those of you who don’t know what CAP is, it stands for Community Action Project. As you may have guessed, our project is designed to help soon-to-be mothers at the Casa Materna. To benefit the community, the group collectively decided to renovate the garden where mothers can relax and spend time with their new children. The garden is not only a place for relaxation, but a place for education. Nurses there teach the prospective mothers how to use everyday garden plants for medicinal and practical applications.
Specifically, we are constructing a retaining wall that will prevent the rain water from flooding the in-law building. In addition to this wall, we are designing a mural and making a pathway to make the mothers feel at home. Today, we made significant progress by clearing the dirt that is blocking the wall’s path. We have dug trenches and placed solid blocks in order to pour cement for our foundation. The pathway has also been completed today with stones that have been repurposed from the dirt dug from the trenches.
Currently, the group is in high spirits because our progress is ahead of schedule. For now we are signing off but expect us to be finished with our CAP project by Monday.
What a great project! Giving moms a piece of mind and moments of tranquility, is priceless. LOVE IT! K, pour your love into this project. Work hard and leave them with the most amazing garden possible. I’m also glad you’re brushing up on your gardening skills. The backyard awaits you. Lol
I miss you and am looking forward to picking up a young woman who has grown and seen just a small sliver of the world that is waiting for you. This is only the beginning.
I love you more than ever. Take it all in. No regrets. Take chances. Live outside your box.
Xoxo
Everyone is checking on you. I keep them all posted. Mariah is lonely. Lol
Brandon and Cameron-thank you for the detailed description of the CAP. The new mothers are going to love the new space that you are creating for them. What a wonderful gift that will keep giving for years to come.
Ayla-although we miss you, we are thrilled that you are having such a great time. Can’t wait to see all of the photos that you are taking.
hi david xD
Ps. I hope you’re taking plenty of pictures.
Vader misses you and I have been singing your song to him, although it’s just not the same. I think he can tell the difference. Everyday he runs upstairs to see if you’re home. I can’t wait to see his reaction Thursday.
Think of what you want to do next weekend. We’re gonna have fun. There’s a new scary movie out that I can’t wait to see with you. Remember that time that guy fell down the stairs at the movies? Idk why that image just popped in my head.. Lol
Anyway.. I’ll talk to you soon.
I love you more.
Thanks for being my kid
What a great idea for your CAP project! Looks like a lot of work but will be so rewarding in the end! Yay for being the Leaders of the day, Cameron and Brandon! Cameron, we can use your help with the vegetable garden when you get back. 3 more sleeps! You’re probably sad the trip is coming to a close. But, we’re excited to see you and hear about your trip! Much love, Mom
Tugga,
This sounds like a wonderful project. I am so glad you are giving back on such a wonderful trip. Casey, vanessa and I are relaxing watching Moana in your bed. JK I know the dog isn’t allowed in your bed. I soooooo miss you. I am really enjoying reading the blogs and seeing all the pictures. Our house is not the same without you. When you come home we are having a girls note and all 5 of us can stay up all night and you can tell us all about your trip.
Love You,
Joe

What a great explanation of what CAP is Brandon and Cameron. We are all so happy that everyone is making a difference. I wish for you all to learn from this amazing experience and to reflect back to this moment each time you face difficulties in your personal life. Thinking and helping others before yourself can be very rewarding.
