¡Hola! Mi nombre es Tianna. Today was our delegation’s first Free Day and we had the wonderful opportunity to explore the streets of Riobamba.

“Every person needs to take one day away. A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future. Jobs, employers, and friends can exist one day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” -Maya Angelou

With this quote in mind throughout our day in Riobamba, we were all encouraged to live in the moment, try new things, and take time to reflect on how powerful this trip has been these past few days. During our free time we saw a wonderful parade with vibrant dancing and singing, stopped at a coffee shop (very much needed for all of the caffeine lovers), got traditional ice cream from Tradicionales de Paila, bought several souvenirs from a variety of shops (can’t wait for everyone at home to see them!!), and took time to put the finishing touches on our first day English lessons for the students. All of us have been working collaboratively on scheduling and making posters for Colegio Miguel Angel León school (some of us are even learning Spanish!). We are all very passionate and dedicated to this project and have been working very hard. Some of us had the opportunity to email or call home through an Internet Cafe that we found in Riobamba. Hearing familiar voices and reading all of your comments has really warmed our hearts and we appreciate all of them. Thank you to all of the family members and friends for your support and love!

P.S.
Allie! Hey sister!! I hope that your MCAT was awesome! All of your hard work will pay off and I love you and miss you!
