Hola to all of the families reading our blog posts! Today was our 4th day in Nicaragua and we had the chance to shadow a high school student at a local school here in Jinotega.

We began our day off by waking up early at 5:30 in the morning and after a big delicious breakfast we headed on over to the high school which was about a 30 minute walk. When arrived at the high school we were given a brief introduction and tour of the school and then afterwrds it was time to meet our students!

The students that we shadowed were absolutely amazing. They were chosen as some of the top English learning/speaking students at the school. Through this we all got to experience what it was like to be a high school student in Nicaragua. By the end of the day we all realized that us students in the United States are very privaleged to be going to school where we are, because the education system in Nicaragua is very different from the one in the U.S. and the standards for each are at a major gap. However, leaving all of the differences behind, there are many students here in Nicaragua and in the U.S. that have the courage, compassion, and commitment for their education and bright future (our 3 C’s!).

After a long day of being at the high school we were given a little break and this is when the big love in our group start to form. Some of us stayed at the hostel and bonded with each other through activities like cards and making friendship bracelets while the others took a little trip to the local coffe shop and bakery with one of our GG leaders. At the end of the day when we had our nightly meeting, the “Big Love” portion took up a lot of time because everyone had so much love for each other! Even though it has only been 4 days being together we all already feel like one big family with our GG coordinators and leaders. <3

To end this little blog, I will give a brief insight of being the leader of the day in my experience. 🙂 Being the first solo El Lider Del Dia of the day, I was extremely nervous. There are many responsibilities at hand for the LDD, but it was all worth it. Through this experience I was able to learn how to become an efficient leader and how to look after 20 other students. I cannot explain how much I appreciate the love and support that my fellow delegation glimpsers gave me. I could not have fullfilled my role as LDD without everyone else and especially our GG coordinators and leaders.

It’s only the 4th day in Nicaragua, so stay tuned for even more exciting blogs about the rest of our planned days/events! 😀
