Hello, family and friends!

We have made it safely to our “home-away-from-home” at Dilenia’s Hotel in Constanza!  It took two flights, three countries, and one long bus ride to get here but it was absolutely worth it.  Katherine, Francis, Anthony, and Sandy greeted us at the airport in Santiago with warm hugs and smiles and have continued to make us feel increasingly welcomed in this wonderful country.  Dilenia and Marino made us pollo frito, platanos fritos, and vegetales for dinner (fried chicken, fried plantains, and vegetables) and treated us to a very special strawberry juice- all Constanzan/Dominican specialities!  After dinner, Katherine and Francis went over logistics for us to help us through the rest of the trip which was extremely helpful.  The weather in Constanza is much cooler and less humid than near the beaches (which is amazing!) and we are very thankful for these conditions.

Tomorrow our theme of the day is, “History & City Tour” and we will head to the city plazoleta.  We will also start planning our English Tutoring classes for later on in the week and begin writing in our Travel Journals!  We generally miss everyone but may be too tired to actually come up with any real emotion right now. 🙂  Just kidding!  However, we do wish you all could see this beautiful place!

We hope this blog post reaches everyone in good health and happiness!

Our first nightly meeting!
