Hello hello hello!

We hope that you are all getting as excited as we are for our amazing adventure! Here’s a little more about us, your fearless leaders:

Hi! My name is Leila Carranza and I am super excited to be a Global Gimpse Leader this year! Currently, I am a 1st grade dual immersion teacher in the East Bay Area. I love living in the Bay Area and being close to my family. I believe that education is a tool for the empowerment of youth. Global Glimpse allows students to critically engage with the world around them and learn from another culture, which is what drew me to this organization. I am most looking forward to meeting the students and fostering a community of learners. I’ve never been to Nicaragua, but I’ve been to El Salvador. I’m excited to see the similarities and differences between these two countries.

My name is Nicole Pfaff, and I’ve been teaching for about 10 years. I currently teach sophomore and senior English at Notre Dame San Jose (I’m the one in the hat below, on a different trip I led earlier this summer to Tanzania). Travel is the most important tool for combatting ignorance and prejudice, and I’m honored to work with Global Glimpse, and with students like yourselves, to show you a part of the world that you might not normally see, and think critically about your experience. I have not yet been to Nicaragua, but I’d be happy to tell you about the other 20 or so countries I have visited, and I’m excited to explore Nicaragua with you!
