Today students learned about Nicaraguan culture by visiting Don Alberto who lives in Jalacate just an Hour away. He shared his home and was very happy to have us there. Lets backtrack a bit, before getting there hew had a 1 kilometer hike down a steep muddy hill. He shared his story about his sculptures and how he has made thousands of them. He was so humble to show us everything and showed his strength in climbing very steep stairs considering he is in his mid 70’s. The challenging part was climbing back up the steep hill. The amazing power of teamwork and support system the glimpsers gave each other to make the climb back up.

We made it back for a late lunch and went to our art class. However it poured and our shoes that had gotten muddy were now clean. The students had an amazing art class where they made cards out of cornhusk. We had dinner and our nightly meeting. What an exhausting day!
