Yesterday’s experience will hold a special place in everyone’s heart. After the early morning wake up around 4:30 am and desayuno (breakfast) on the go, the group headed to the mercado (market) to lend a helping hand. We broke up into smaller groups and each tackled a certain role that would help the locals bring in their income. We all took turns at the different jobs that were offered. From killing, cleaning and cutting up chickens at the pollera to packing up vegetables, to taking peas out of the pea pods, it pushed us to open our eyes and see the struggle of how the locals bring in their income. Although it pushed us all out of our comfort zone, we overcame it and bonded stronger than we ever had before.
