*this post is a day late because we could not get wifi access last night
Hi my name is Jennifer, today I had the honor of being El Lider Del Dia. After struggling to wake up early(big shout out to Elizabeth for waking me up)we went to ASOCAES in Las Cacaos. It was raining on and off during the day, but it didn’t get us down. We got the wonderful opportunity to visit a coffee farm and see the production in process. It was fun to touch the molino(coffee ground)and smell the coffee, but there was one machine that the coffee beans had to go to before being distributed, sold, and exported. They had to go in a machine to get rid of the molino, they went in to get roasted, cooled off, and then grounded. We also learned that ASOCAES is part of a Fair Trade structure, that provides the producers and workers an ethical working condition and livable wage which is seven times the wage than those for who work for a Conventional Commerce structure. We also were able to taste the delicious coffee!!! We went to see the vivero(green house), but unfortunately we didn’t get to go inside, so we had to admire it from afar.
After eating lunch at ASOCAES we went straight to Escuela De Dios Dira to teach our students English. We were sort of went over time asking questions earlier, but all was good, we got to the school early which was a plus considering that we were coming back from the mountains. It was raining so not all the students came due to the rain, but we could tell that those who came really wanted to learn and you could see it in their eyes. Thanks to Kristian for drawing a four-legged chicken on the board so that Elizabeth, Yoko, and I had a fun start to our class by having our students describe what a chicken looks like in English. As one class was getting ready to leave, there was one of us who was teaching that didn’t let the students leave until they pronounced words in English, which was a good strategy. The day was pretty packed, but as usual it was fun and everyone had a good laugh. My highlight of the day was when Jessie asked one of the workers if he got his eyebrows done. Now it’s time for me to sign off, and hats off to our next El Lider Del Dia.
P.s. Keep the blog comments coming! Reading the comments during our nightly meeting has become our favorite part of the evening, these kiddos love hearing from you -Abby
Hi Ella, Midget here. I miss you. Mama keeps bugging me about what you’re eating and if you’re getting enough to eat, so post something about that please!! Also, why are you not in any of the photos?!? A little pdate on things at home: On Sunday we went on the 8 mile hike up to Alice’s on that Papa wanted to do (you’re welcome, you won’t have to do it when you get back). I’m packing to leave tomorrow :'( and my room looks like a tornado went through it. Don’t worry, I’m not stealing any of your clothes! I forgot to feed Mumford for a couple days but I think he’ll be fine. So happy to read these blogs and see what you’re up to! It was so hard to keep my mouth shut this whole summer during my internship at GG, I was SO EXCITED for you!!! <3 I'll comment again when I'm back in Montana! BIG LOVE to all you Glimpsers!

Hi son,
Malc hope all is well with you. Im glad to see your having a fun time. It was great hearing your voice when you called. I miss you,and pops sends his love. When I told him you called, first thing he ask was, did he ask about me? I laughed and said yes pops. Some friends and family asked about you at auntie and uncles anniversary party. I let them know what was going on with you and they told me to let you know what a wonderful thing you were doing and how brave you are for not being afraid to explore. Well learn as much as you can and share all the knowledge you know. I love you and talk with you soon , mom.
Hi Ally: HOpe you had a fabulous day today!!
I can just imagine how you must’ve felt being around coffee….our STAR Barista. Going to CAFE 4 wasnt’ the same with you missing. So we came straight home after church. I’m sure…you are keeping up with your nightly prayers and devotion. Just keep journaling so you can tell us all about your adventures. Your sister….finally managed to keep your room clean…..well…according to her standards….not ours (Wink Wink). And of course…nani continues to ask what date is your return. I just want you to experience and absorb all that you can. This has been a blessing for all of us. I’ve continued to work on my Crown Moulding and baseboard project, papa as usual is working hard and I’m sure thinks about you continuously. Hope you’ve made lots of lifetime friendships and learned many new recipes that you will share with us before returning to your busy schedule. Enjoy your day tomorrow.
Love,
Mom
