Ello from Hostel San Jose! We started another great day by waking up at 6 am, proceeding to breakfast where we enjoyed yet another meal of gallopinto paired with scrambled eggs and white bread. Our first of multiple field trips was to La Escuela Especial (special education school). There we received a short and informative tour, followed by an interaction with students of various capabilities. Glimpsers spread amongst classrooms to support teachers as assistants. We were able to work with students who experience loss of sight and loss of hearing, among other disabilities. Glimpsers were able to experience how sweet and hard working the students are alongside teachers that are infatuated with what they do. Some students even got to support the school by purchasing various authentic and creative pieces of art designed by students. After a heart warming opportunity to interact with students and teachers, we proceeded to have lunch- buffet style! [Editor’s Note: This was another activity where there were so many cute pictures I had to include a bunch. See below.]
Soon after, we made our way to an undesignated bus stop which would lead us to another school, where we would shadow a high school student. We hectically cramped into the already crowded public bus. After, a short ride of being jostled around, we quickly exited the bus following Brayan’s explicit command: “When I say get off, YOU GET OFF.” Luckily we managed to get off the bus before it sped away again. As we approached the gates of the school, many of us felt as if it was our first day at a new school. With Niki aka our trip mom encouraging us, we entered the high school and were assigned to classrooms of juniors and seniors. In those classrooms, many of us were able to chat with Nicaraguan students and some even got to play heated games of Ultimate Ninja. During our break, we became interviewers and interviewees asking and answering many questions about each others’ cultures and countries. After that exciting interaction, we headed back to the bus stop as it began to pour. As we rushed through the thunder storm back to the hostel, many students began to prepare for their nightly English tutoring, and others went to the local laundromat to pick up clean and folded laundry. Decked with clean clothes, we made our way to have dinner consisting of sandwiches, fries, and dragonfruit juice. Once everyone finished eating, we rushed to English tutoring classes, arriving with a few minutes to set up. After an exhausting hour and 45 minutes of teaching, we returned to the hostel where we enthusiastically prepared for our free day tomorrow!
sounds like you all had a pretty awesome day! I bet you are all excited about your free day tomorrow.
I love the part when Brayan commands. “When I say get off, YOU GET OFF.”
That’s hilarious. I can actually picture the bus coming to a quick stop and everyone trying to rush out! ahh… that was a good laugh
Marisol – quick update on Ailani and Adrian. They both went to practice with coach Terry yesterday. Coach is amazing! both Ailani and Adrian did so good! they actually got to run on the track and both did really good. I’m sure they are both going to do great on Saturday. I’ll make sure to keep you posted 🙂
For all you Warrior Fans. We play today in Cleveland. Game 6! I’m hoping we win today and not have to go to game 7. Bogut is out but thankfully we have Green back.
Hasta Mañana – can’t wait to hear about your free day 🙂
Gallo Pinto – my favorite dish of the day. Even though it might be boring now, trust me you guys are going to miss it when it’s gone!
I am so glad that you guys are having the experience of a life time. This group seems so enthusiastic and vivacious; it’s nice to see the energy you guys have and the outcomes of it through these blogs. Continue to have fun and go crazy. Hope Lyana is getting better from her diarrhea!! ?
Play safe kids and make use of your free time!! Definitely try the local drinks and snacks if possible and buy tons of souvenirs for your friends and family.

Love you – Mom
Cassie-sorry I didn’t see your e-mail until later on. Sounds like you guys are having a blast. Hope your free/shopping day was fruitful. Please call me the next time you have a chance to. Take care.
Mom
XOXO
b^.^d I see you.
wow…A different adventure everyday.
Have fun tomorrow!
Nora- I see you’ve been having a good time! Mom was unable to post a comment for some reason so she asked me to write one. I’m finishing up my first week of work at UNH and its super boring. I was given one thing to do for the whole week, and have been sitting at my desk twiddling my thumbs since I finished it. Staying with the Smiths is going pretty well; they have some stand-up paddle boards that we have been using along with their boat. But that is essentially all I am doing besides working and eating. The weekend can’t come soon enough.
Game 6 is today, I’m sure you’ve been updated on the series, and I’d be surprised if the Warriors don’t destroy the Cavs. Draymond got suspended last game for attempting to punch Lebron, but there are some conspiracy theories floating around that it was just the NBA’s way to extend the series. In any case, it should be a good game tonight.
Hope you had a relaxing day today, and I look forward to hearing from you when you get back. If I could provide you an update on how the dogs are doing, I would, but you are probably know more about them than I do right now.
Talk to you later
Erik
