Saludos from Sebastian & Kennedi!

Today is June 25th and we have 4 days left here in Costa Rica! We woke up at 7 am and woke all the others at 7:30 am.

This morning, breakfast was at 8:30 am. We ate hashbrowns, eggs, toasted bread, and fruit. We had a quick meeting with everyone at around 9:15 am to make sure everyone had what they needed for our free day. We departed around 9:30 am to Escalada Cachí. We arrived around 10 am and had a long, scenic nature walk to the river.

When we got there, we were immediately met with a beautiful view of the river. There was a separate pool with fish we could also swim in. Although the water was beautiful, we had to warm up to it. It was chilly but refreshing! After tossing around a football and relaxing with the fish, we decided to explore the river. We were able to sit back, talk, and enjoy the nice sunny day on huge rocks.

Fast forward to lunch which was a simple but filling picnic including sandwiches, chips, and cookies that everyone enjoyed. When lunch was over, we went back out to the river. Matt then brought out his camera and took amazing pictures of the group and individuals.

Around 2:30 pm, we started our nature walk back up the hills. After conquering the hills of Orosi, we arrived back to the bus and took off to a little supermarket in Cachi so we could stock up on snacks for our movie night tonight.

We got home before dinner and had enough time for everyone to shower and put on fresh clothes. For dinner, we had beef, vegetables, and mashed potatoes with cheese on top, along with a drink of guanabana. We’ve gotten to try so many different types of juices! After a day in the sun, this one was especially refreshing at the end of the day. At 7:30 pm, we popped our popcorn and settled in for our movie night. We made sure to have some ice cream to cool off with. Tomorrow, Geneieve and Margot will take the lead as we focus on Environmental Justice.

¡Hasta luego!
