Hello family and friends this is Katherine Constanza’s Program Coordinator and today’s leader of the day! The group has finally made it to Constanza. Wooohoooo! After waking up bright and early in Santiago, we headed up the valley to finally make it to our home for the next 15 days! We arrived at our amazing host accommodations (Dilenia’s) and met the wonderful family and staff that run the place. They were so welcoming that even Dilenia’s 4 year old niece (Indie) joined some of our activities today. After learning a little bit about dominican culture and its differences and similarities to the US, we had a delicious lunch of rice, beans, beef and green salad. Big shout out to the Kitchen staff at Dilenia’s! there were hardly any leftovers. In the afternoon we headed out to see and get to know more about Constanza, its history and its treasures, in our city tour. It was inspiring to see the students engaging with locals and asking insightful questions about the city- we made a few stops and were able to talk to some important locals- including those working in the fire department. During the tour we also were able to meet some local youth from Constanza that are part of the Global Glimpse Youth Ambassador Program (YAP). They welcomed us with handmade bracelets- made by them! (such a sweet gesture!). After our city tour we learned that glimpsers will be teaching English at a nearby school and will start their classes tomorrow! We are all looking forward to teaching and learning from community members. Stay tuned for updates about our discoveries and experiences as we embark on this journey! Miss you all.

Glad to hear that you are settled into your accommodations in Constanza! I can only imagine how tired you were after those flight delays. This blog is going to be the highlight of my days. Hello Eryn (and Alex), I enlarged this picture until I found the backs of your heads 🙂
PS – Eryn, Licorice is starting to wonder where you are 🙂
Hello GG students–great to see the photo with blue skies on your first blog entry. I am just wondering how the weather has been so far? It looked from the weather map that you all would be getting rain the first several days. We hope that sun & blue skies have been making a presence as well. Have fun!
Hi Anne! Thanks for asking, the weather has been great so far! The summer is considered the rainy season in DR, so almost every day there is usually a decent chance it may rain, if even for a short period of time. Today (7/27) we did encounter a bit of rain, however it lasted no more than an hour. Fingers crossed the weather will continue to be beautiful!
Andrew (GG Leader)
Thanks for sending this along. Great to hear what the students are up to. Can you please post more pictures though? We would like to see those beautiful faces.
