Hello Glimpser Families and Eager Readers,

Sorry for the delay!  Our days have been packed to the brim with exciting activities (and blogging has, sadly, had to take a back seat).  We have arrived to Jinotega and we have already toured the city, made friends with locals, have met, Lautaro Ruiz, a living monument,  have been guests speakers at a local youth radio station, and we have eaten food prepared with the loving Nicaraguenze spirit. Our second day in Jinotega was punctuated with a delicious treat from the oldest paleteria in town.

If we were to attempt to characterize our first few days of learning, the word “Preservation” would be most appropriate.  The food, shops, music, and dance tell us ancient stories of revolution, resistance, adaptation, and rebirth that have been lovingly protected and preserved by the people of Jinotega.  We are learning that even if Nicaragua is a tiny place, it holds so many treasures that beckon exploration.  In the following 18 days, we will set out to do just that. Moms and Dads- do not worry-We are safe, well-fed, and hydrated.  Stay tuned to learn more about our adventure.
