We took a scenic 2.5-hour bus ride into Matagalpa from Managua this morning. It was quite the experience seeing all the roadside businesses as we drove North into Matagalpa. Arriving in Matagalpa, we settled into Hostal Del Rey, ate a delicious lunch and met our hosts.
After taking some time to get to know our surroundings, we dove straight into the first two seminars of our trip: Hostal Orientation and Culture and Safety Orientation. Silvan and Roxanna gave us a thorough overview of rules to keep us safe in and out of the hostel.
Equipped with a wealth of information, we will head into the city for a tour tomorrow.
