Hey all, we’re Lucas and Nicole – today, we had the honor of being the first leaders del día! Today was culture day for us and we got to partake in lots of interesting experiences, living in the shoes of locals.

We had an early start. First, we took a trip to the Panedaría, where we had a home-cooked breakfast and then learned how to make bread the Panamanian way. We were welcomed there by a lovely family who allowed us to see the process of their business and daily life.

Afterward, we stopped at a local pottery place and met Lucrecio, a clay artist who showed us how he hand-makes pottery pieces every day. We had the chance to design our own vases and paint while we were there! Once we arrived back at our hotel, we also got to take a group trip to a local supermarket.

Before ending the day, we got to explore Chitré, seeing the parks, shops, churches, etc. During this, we stopped at our friend Angie’s restaurant and enjoyed a wonderful smoothie and meal together. On that note, BIG LOVE to Angie for all the healthy and delicious meals she provided throughout the trip!

Overall, today was a very exciting day! We got to learn what it’s like to be a part of this community. Being a part of the culture is a very heartwarming experience. We’d like to thank the families in Chitré and our global glimpse leaders for giving us all these amazing opportunities. It’s been a pleasure to be the leaders today and see what it’s like to do their job!
