Hello everyone! My name is Esmeralda Jimenez and I am a Glimpser here in Chitré, Panamá. So today, the delegation was ready for a fun day! We woke up at 7 in the morning, to eat breakfast which was Panamanian tortillas with sausages and fruit. We then had an hour and a half to run quick errands since most stores would be closed tomorrow (Sunday), which will also be our free day! We then headed back to the hotel to then travel to Playa Uverito, which was honestly one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in my life. Since we are so used to the cold Bay Area ocean water, we expected it to be cold, but this one wasn’t which made it even better! The water was really warm and clear. The sand was warm and filled with distinct beautiful shells. And best of all, the beach wasn’t dirty at all! The restaurant we ate at, which by the way the food was very delicious, had a pool for us to enjoy, so aside from the beach, we also had a pool to relax in. The day itself was overall a day all of us needed and enjoyed.
Since we are near our last day here, today was our last day with our bus driver Ronaldo, so we had to say our goodbyes as he dropped us off at the hotel. I speak for all of us when I say he was the best bus driver, although we might have annoyed him with our singing on the bus, our time with him was great.
This weekend in Chitré there is a celebration of Viva San Juan, which is a Catholic celebration to honor San Juan Bautista. As soon as we arrived back from the beach to the hotel, the parade to celebrate his arrival was about to commence. It was such a beautiful cultural experience, where we got to see many different things like people in traditional costumes, Panamanian dancers, people on horses, and a variety of music.
My favorite part of the day was definitely the beach. It was a time where we got to relax and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. Tomorrow is going to be our free day and sadly our last full day here in Chitré. We will enjoy and say goodbye to our favorite places in town one last time. Tomorrow’s Líder del Día is Zaria, so expect to hear more about tomorrow from her!
Good night and big love, Esmeralda <3
