Hi Families!!
It’s 10:45 in the DR and we are exhausted. We started today at 6:45 and are just wrapping up our personal reflections about how living like a local and day 1 of teaching went. Because of this, we will delay the full blog post for today until tomorrow. Everyone is doing great, staying hydrated, and learning and growing a TON. They love reading your blog comments so keep them coming! They also love having free time!! We haven’t had much but tomorrow is our first free day! Everyone will have a chance to access internet, call home, and explore San Juan with either an adult or one of our amazing youth ambassadors! If you get a chance, send your student a reminder about contact info they may have forgotten (and can’t access without smart phones) and/or an email about when would be the best time to call you so you can connect.
Thanks for the warm wishes from back home.
Wow how exciting to hear that I might hear from you David! 7/11 sugar rush and burn. Cheng and Chong took the sibs and Ekanbuddy to all the local 7/11s then they went to milpitas and the middle schoolers went to four other 7/11s there. Daniel was begging me to not make him drink anymore slurpees. I don’t know if you all have heard about Pokemon go but it is all the rage now. Looking forward to hearing your voice David and “fly on the wall” you hear me!!!!!!!
Great! I’m really excited to hear about your experience in a different country
Thanks for the update, Richey! sounds like you all had a long full day which will make tomorrow all the more enjoyable
Ari, call any time you can – can’t wait to hear from you! All is well here, Baba is back home so that’s nice, we’re getting back to the routine now that Nico and family are gone, but the house feels empty without you – we all miss you!
Linda I sent you a couple of emails, hopefully you’ll get to read them some time today. I miss you!
Yay! Can’t wait to hear from you Marisa! I will be at work in the morning & SofĂa will be at school. Papi & Marcos will be home. Marcos has a Dr appt at 1:45. If you can, call in the afternoon. But if it’s more convenient, call me at any time. I will drop everything. Missing you a lot, mija!
Love you!
Hi mija. We are excited to hear that you will be calling. If I can’t speak to you, Mami can feel me in. As I write to you, Marcos and I are chillin’. We were watching the the Olympic swimming and track trials. Now watching the All Star Home Run derby. Bueno stay hydrated and try to rest. Love you!
Oops fill me in….lol
Thanks so much for the blogs. We parents look forward to reading them everyday and trying to spot our student in the photos. Looking good Amanda! So great to know you’re learning so much and experiencing a new culture. These memories will last a lifetime. Stay safe and looking forward to hearing from you soon. Love you!!
Hola Allegra! We were so happy to see you in a picture yesterday — guess you weren’t able to dodge that one. I will send you an email in case you check messages. Hope you are having a great time — we love you! XOXO, Mom
Marisa please try again, sorry didn’t recognize the number.
It was so good hearing your voice, and that you are enjoying yourself….there’s a spark of magic in your eyes, candyland appears each time you smile….love you!
Hey Ari
It’s Natis here. I love reading all the posts and the pictures are so amazing. The colors are out of this world. Amani and Luli are at Tenderfoot and Potowatami and having the time of their lives. Luli talked to Anaconda about you! Sad to see the Dallas people go, but thankfuly made it home safe. News: Draymond Green got in some police trouble after slapping an annoying guy at a bar. He is out for now but has to settle court matters.
Anyway, can’t wait to hear details about living like a local. Enjoy your free day.
Love you!!
Marisa, it was awesome to hear from you! I have been an emotional wreck all day.
I admire your great outlook about this entire trip (considering what the heat is doing to your hair).
I hope that this trip will inspire you to tackle social, economic and political challenges of this generation.
Love & miss you!
Hey Zara, got your email and so happy all is well! Sounds like you are making good friends and doing loads of fun and good things for the community you are living in.would love to hear more!!! Love you and miss you more every day. Xxx
Robert sorry, missed your call. I was in a meeting. Best time to call is at 12pm pacific time. But for now, I will answer all numbers so I will not miss your call. Happy to hear that tutoring was a success, although you were nervous, you did it and that is awesome, proud of you.
As for spending the time with DR family, that is great, and although it may be sad, I know they are grateful that you want to know about DR and their lives. It is very important for you and to them. It so makes you appreciate life and what matters. I love you and continue to enjoy your trip. Take pictures and BTW, can I see you more in the pictures, only am seeing your head or a glimpse, but I know it is you. Love mom
