Day 6 – Free Day #1

Cush – Today was our very first free day of this trip. We were able to go out and experience Riobamba with our own eyes. During the day we were able to see how rich the culture is over here. We were able to interact with locals which was an amazing experience.
Today we started to plan our CAP project where we create a plan and implement it in order to help the local community. We will be aiding Utopia (a family organization that believes in bringing together urban and rural communities) and providing them with better utilities, such as building them more storage space.
Overall, I’m just glad that everybody was able to have a fun time and was able to relax for a day. Being the Lider Del Dia was very insightful and gave me a taste of what it meant to be a leader. I learned that I should put others before myself.

Alix – Being Lider Del Dia really taught me a lot about myself. I learned it is okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from it. My peers and even my leader taught me so much and I will continue to use the knowledge they gave in life. My peers, leader, and I went to an amazing park that showed an amazing view of all the mountains. We got to eat a “crepe” that was full of fruit, whip cream, ice cream, and fudge wrapped all together. After that experience I will never eat ice cream cones ever again. After eating that delicious “crepe”, while also looking for an SD card for my camcorder we got the chance to shop at a popular supermarket. I definitely had to get their chocolate, I heard it was the best chocolate in the world. After shopping for snacks, we got to shop for souvenirs. Today was an amazing day and I’m glad I was able to do these things with my peers, who I’ve grown so close to.
