Hello everyone!

Today was a productive day; we began with a 7AM wake up call and finished the day off with a birthday dance party for Bella!

Our goal for the day was to begin our CAP by painting classrooms at a local school called Jose Dolores Rivera. Our main priority was to repaint the high school classrooms and we each divided ourselves into 5 groups, each taking on one classroom. We were also divided into different committees which were the budgeters, painters, and artists. We had a blast painting each classroom while bonding together. We were surprised by the way we all just came together and worked to accomplish our goals. Even though each of us have our own unique personalities, we all managed to work past our differences and that’s what made us proud. Our whole delegation inspired us to remain positive since they did not fail to keep up their laughter. We learned that being the Lider Del Dia is not easy, especially having to plan a surprise birthday party for our dear Bella. Everyone was pretty bad at keeping secrets, but we managed to pull it off and she had no clue what was happening. We bought a cake, balloons, a piñata, and a little coin purse for the birthday girl. At the end of the night, we all showered her with love by dancing with her.

Our quote of the day was “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” by Chinese Proverb. This quote pertains to our CAP project since we tried to find the most sustainable and efficient way of improving the school instead of just donating supplies that may not last as long as painting classrooms.

Good night from Jinotega, we hope you enjoyed our blog and photos!!
