Today, me and my peers went to a finished wasteland site, where we learned that we were building a similar site. Something that surprised me the most was that they need at least 500 wetland sites in the Dominican Republic, to have an affect in the community near the Yaque river and they have only created less than 30 wetland sites. Something I was proud of was how everyone participated in our CAP worksite, whether it was digging dirt, transporting gravel, and making art with the kids. One of the most inspiring person we met that day was Emmanuel from Plan Yaque, he is really passionate to this project, even though he isn’t effected by the problem. Being Líder Del Día was really fun because I had really good group members, they never was harsh on me when I made mistakes. Something I learned about myself was that I really want to be involved this project.
Sounds like you are all hard at work Benjamin, really proud of all of you for working on making a difference. Your hard work will have an impact on the community’s way of life. Don’t be discouraged with the amount of wetland sites needed, instead focus on the one you’re all helping with and know that you’re getting them closer to their goal.
