Day 5 – Global Business Day

We began our day with visiting an organization knows as Utopia. They assist in the feeding of families by partnering with producers that use organic methods to grow their crops. What is interesting about this program is that the families that enroll help grow the crop and learn how their food is produced. This surprised me that the people in this community have such a deep commitment to the program, even though they have so much going on in their daily lives. Utopia also has a program with loans that charge no interest. They do this by having every member of the group contribute funds to buy supplies that generate more income for the members of the group, that way everyone makes a profit.
Later, we used information that Utopia gave us to plan our Community Action Project (CAP). I am most proud of our group today for being able to bounce ideas off of each other to construct our plan for the community that Utopia is partnered with.
Finally, we taught our second English class. Although, our first English class was very challenging, I feel like our second class went more smoothly with only a couple of small issues that could easily be fixed.
Overall, today we realized that there is a deeper meaning of community and unity through each individuals ideas and motivations to make a difference.
