Greetings friends and family, it’s nearly lights out at the hostel, but before we rest after a long day of hard work we must tell you about our incredible experience. First we started our day with a 7:00 AM wake-up call and although we were sore from yesterday’s CAP work, we woke up ready to accomplish our goal- finishing the CAP project. Next, we got on our gracious AC cooled bus to make our way to the one and only La Favorita, where we were blessed with pancakes and watermelon for breakfast. After that, we hit the road to Las Prusias to finish what we started. Once we arrived at the school we got straight to work without any hesitation. Some of us finished painting the school while others helped lay cement down to create a safe path way from the classroom to the kitchen and the playground. We all put in our blood, sweat, and remaining tears to get the work done and accomplish our goal. Many people of the community came out and volunteered to help us complete these projects. Around noon, we all (glimpsers and locals) gathered around in a circle to celebrate our job well done with 3 piñatas and our donations to the students and community. These gift consisted of coloring books, pencils, crayons, 120 plastic reusable plates, cutting boards, cooking utensils, cleaning supplies, and a big smile to the community members. After our gathering, we distribiuted the lunch and enjoyed our meal provided to us by Don Carlos. The students were very excited and thrilled with these gifts, improvements to their school and of course the candy filled pinatas. As result our collective hard work and donations made by not only us but several generous donors (see picture) who contributed to make our plans for improving this school a reality, we were were able to make several improvements and additions to the school. Thank you CAP donors!
We then took a small trip to a magnificent overlook of the beautiful city of Granada and the Apoyo Lagoon. Unfortunately, after spending 3 days with the locals of Las Prusias, we had to say our final farewells to these wonderful people. We truly were lucky to meet such good people who despite having many needs, still have great energy and hope for improving their situation.
Around 3:00PM we headed to the hostel to prep for yet another sad goodbye. Our English Students had worked hard for a long period of time and today we celebrated their accomplishment with a small graduation ceremony. The students surprised us with performances such as a cultural dance and a flute solo; Along with gifts that really warmed our hearts. When the time came to say goodbye we exchanged social media information and promised to keep in touch.
Then came the moment we were all anticipating, the surprise dinner arranged for us by our GG leaders, a trip to the Tele Pizza pizzeria. All of us gathered around variety of pizza pies and celebrated today’s accomplishments. At dinner, all the glimpsers shared many laughs and the realization that we are reaching our final days in Nicaragua. After that fulfilling meal, we walked back to our hostel and had a self-reflection about our amazing day. We discussed about the smiles that the community brought to our faces and the effectiveness and impact of our CAP on the community.
Today was an amazing day we Speak for everyone when we say that working for the community has impacted us in a way that we are unable to explain. However it its getting late and we need to rest for tomorrow’s fun day, therefore goodnight.
P.S. Free Day has been moved to Sunday therefore expect calls from your loved ones.

It reads and sounds as if this may have been the most emotional day yet. We’re so proud that you guys not only worked so hard, but it’s wonderful as parents to know you guys made even a small difference in the lives of the people of Las Prusias.
Looking at the pictures (which were great, btw) we’re struck by the looks on everyone’s faces. It’s like you can see you guys are loving the experience in every way. The challenges, the environment and most of all, the people. And the vast and natural beauty of that lagoon and surrounding area must be amazing to see in person.
How sweet of your students to put on a show for you upon graduation. It’s really gratifying to know your efforts and friendship are appreciated 🙂 You’re all fortunate in that social media can carry these friendships and bonds for the rest of your lives.
Jesus and Bianca, thank you for that excellent recap and kudos to any and all photographers!
Morgan the happiness in your face just pours out in the pics. We’re so grateful you made the wise choice to do this. Real world experience. Priceless.
And now, since you’ve acquired these polished painting skills, the living room needs a fresh coat.
Looking forward to talking to you tomorrow!

Hi all, What a great satisfaction to hear how you guys are making a difference in these communities. I’m so proud of you all. You have done an amazing job. Think of the impact you have made in these people lives. Teaching the English class, living with the locals, painting the school, renovating the playground and kitchen, etc. You all should be very proud of yourselves for this accomplishment. During this journey you have met amazing people and I’m sure they feel the same way about you. I’m sure these people are so thankful for your contribution, hard work and dedication. They are so humble. They may not be rich but they have richness in their hearts. The performance and gifts was part of their gratitude. Life is not just about money, richness comes in so many ways.
Diana, I’m so proud of you. You have impressed me in so many ways. I never thought you would spread your wings like this. You are an amazing young lady and I thank God for having you. Please continue to spread your wings, life has so much to offer.
