At the end of every global glimpse trip, there is a community service project in which the students collaborate with a community in need to improve the lives of those living in it. Our group of glimpsers decided to work with a community center called Centro Juan Pablo II. This center provides services to children in poverty who would otherwise be unable to receive quality education as well as services to mothers to help them with skills that could help them make money. For our project we decided to beautify the library by building a table, a couple of benches, and shelves, as well as painting a mural; and to beautify the main classroom by repainting the walls and painting a mural on the main wall. Today was the first day of the CAP execution and Betsy and I were the leaders of the day. After having another meal of gallo pinto and getting ready, we left to get supplies, we stopped at the paint store, the lumber store, and the market. Then we arrived at the center and got to work.

We split into groups and as you know, team work makes the dream work. Along with making progress on our CAP, Anna and I also made progress on our leadership skills. This day has been full of productivity, leadership and creativity. I’m glad that I chose to be leader of the day for this specific day and I’m sure Anna is too.
