At the end of every global glimpse trip, there is a community service project in which the students collaborate with a community in need to improve the lives of those living in it. Our group of glimpsers decided to work with a community center called Centro Juan Pablo II. This center provides services to children in poverty who would otherwise be unable to receive quality education as well as services to mothers to help them with skills that could help them make money. For our project we decided to beautify the library by building a table, a couple of benches, and shelves, as well as painting a mural; and to beautify the main classroom by repainting the walls and painting a mural on the main wall. Today was the first day of the CAP execution and Betsy and I were the leaders of the day. After having another meal of gallo pinto and getting ready, we left to get supplies, we stopped at the paint store, the lumber store, and the market. Then we arrived at the center and got to work.

We split into groups and as you know, team work makes the dream work. Along with making progress on our CAP, Anna and I also made progress on our leadership skills. This day has been full of productivity, leadership and creativity. I’m glad that I chose to be leader of the day for this specific day and I’m sure Anna is too.
What an awesome project you all picked. Kayla, we are so proud of you and the rest of your friends for choosing to go on such a meaningful trip. I’m sure everyone you guys have helped over there is greatly appreciative of all you have done.
Well done guys!!
Sounds like a thoughtful and carefully planned project. Too bad you couldn’t bring your dad, Lily, he’s a good artist and builder? All of you are leaving the proof of your generosity and hard work in this community. Hope you are able to finish your project before your return. We are counting down the days! Hugs and kisses?
Skye ???
I can’t wait to see a picture of the mural when it’s done. I hope this is a very rewarding project for you. I’m sure all the children will love it!! I miss you a lot.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t replied yet 🙁 I’m just letting you guys know I’m safe and sound, and I hope everything is good on your end. I don’t have a lot of time right now (lights out is soon) so I have to keep this short. Love you all, see you soon! – Matti
Rich, we are so proud of you for all the AMAZING opportunities you are able to experience. You took a leap into something so unknown, along with not knowing anyone in your group at all. You and the other students are truly making a difference, and you all should be so proud of yourselves. Words cannot not express how happy I am to have you as my son! I know you are soaking in every last bit of everyday and I cant wait to hear all of your time spent there. I miss you bunches. Your mom, Vero.
