Hola amigos y familia! Today, we began by going to the Batey community to start working on our CAP project. On our way to the work site, we saw some familiar faces- the kids we played with on Friday. So, it made it very exciting to continue these connections. Our friend Luis ran up to one of the Glimpsers (Maddie) and gave a big hug.

Our CAP project is about continuing the construction of a house for one of the families in the Batey community. It was especially touching when the mother of the family described the experience of giving a better opportunity for her husband and children. Her children, who currently do not live with her due to the condition of the house, will be able to move back in with her. We presented our project design and values to the family, and construction team to let them know our true intentions for this project. There were many different jobs to do while constructing this house, such as mixing cement, shoveling sand, and finishing walls.

Sadly, after lunch, the rain caught us, and we had to return to the Global Glimpse house. Recently throughout this trip, we’ve been constantly on the go so this unexpected break allowed us to do some reflection. During this reflection time, we thought about the people who made this all possible by writing letters to express our gratitude to them. We are excited to get back to the community tomorrow to continue our CAP project! We are so grateful for the connections we’ve made not only with the community but with each other, leaving and taking lasting lessons wherever we go.
