Today, we got to meet the community of Cañada de Las Palmas, where we split into groups and met the wonderful families and people that run the town. After several activities that brought us closer together (dominoes, braiding and paint, and a wonderful chicken and rice lunch), we returned to the hotel to prepare for the presentation of our Community Action Project. We worked together to design and refine our ideas, ran our idea for a playground by the leaders of the community, and gained their approval for the project. To summarize, we felt hopeful and inspired by the generosity and spirits of the community and the gratefulness of the visitors from Rio Grande, and we came out with a new outlook.
