Hola, it’s Kha and Emmanuel. Sam was declined to be part of the LDD because I, Emmanuel, really wanted to be a part of the dance day. And that is why I dragged Kha with me. We started off with me, Kha: FBI, banging on people’s doors so they could be up and ready for breakfast on time. Then, we had our lovely meal with eggs, two slices of bread, butter, and jelly as a side. We also had fresh mango juice for breakfast, and it was bomb. Everyone started getting ready for the city tour, where we passed the plaza of La Vega. While crossing the plaza, we visited a military compound and learned about the DR’s revolutionists. The lieutenant invited to us to see their guaraguao (or red-tailed hawk)and told us how they are used to rescue lost people in the mountains. Then we headed to create some face masks. We visit a lovely person, whose nickname is “Dei Gato.” He taught us the basics of mask-making with clay. Once we were done with our mask-making, we headed back to our hotel for an amazing lunch. The meal consisted of rice, meatballs, and salad. Estaba delicioso! Glimpsers had some free time to rest and fill up on water (it was a hot day) because we had our dance class next. During our two-hour dance lesson, Paul Rosado welcomed us with the most enthusiastic and entertaining personality.  He taught us the traditional dances of the DR, which are bachata and two types of merengue, where the Glimpsers and Emmanuel were moving their hips like never before. After the dance class, we came back to our hotel with some free time, and the Glimpsers connected very well with the local kids in the hotel and with each other. Then came DINNER TIME. We were served an amazing spaghetti with a side of salad and bread. Everyone was served their plates and everyone finished everything (except the salad). At the end of the meal, there was no waste left and our goal is to try to minimize waste. We had our nightly meeting about the summary of the day, and we passed to torches to the next LDDs, who are Tanvi and Miriam.

Emmanuel here, I just want to say that I absolutely loved the dancing because I enjoy moving my hips. Also HIIIIII mom, dad, and brother I miss you all and love you but I am enjoying this trip and please tell Bella and Dingo that I miss them, love ya’ll.

Hey, Kha here, I want just want to say that I am enjoying this trip so far. Everyone is so friendly, and it is so interesting to learn about the locals’ culture. Absolutely enjoyed the food, kudos to the chef and host. Also, HI everyone at home. I missed you, and I hope you missed me too (lol). Please take care of yourself and my stuff.
