What a great day we had! After breakfast, we headed out for a walking tour of the city and learned a lot about the history and landmarks. This included a stop at a military base and the fire station, where a lot of Glimpsers got to slide down the firefighters’ pole and sit in the fire engines! We then headed to a mask-making workshop with Danio Victoriano {aka “Gato!} to learn about the history and importance of masks in the DR in everything from religion to celebrations. Everyone started out with the same lump of clay, and the creativity was flowing…everyone ended up with a unique creation, had fun watching others’ art come to life, and they will bring their pieces home with them.

After lunch, we waited for the rain to end and then walked for a super fun dance session with Paul Rosado. Everyone was out on the dance floor, had a blast learning some bachata and merengue moves, and danced up a storm. Everyone agreed this was really awesome and enjoyed cooling off in the part with popsicles! Back to the hotel for some free time.

After a delicious pasta dinner, we held our Nightly Meeting where we reviewed the day, shared some thoughts and reflections on the experiences and the warm-up questions, and shared some “roses, thorns and buds.” After Mariposa and Sanacia displayed some incredible talent, the GGLs (Global Glimpse Leaders) Julie and Tchaas “passed the torch” for them to be tomorrow’s LLDs (Leaders of the Day). They did a great job outlining the agenda, helping the group prepare for tomorrow, and closing out the meeting with a new spin on the “Unity Clap!”  Looking forward to a great day tomorrow…
