Hey all! LDDs (liders del dia/ leaders of the day) Catherine and Ezra here. Today was a third stay-at-home day for us, with a focus on aid and development. Although we had to change our plans due to our guest speaker being sick and unable to attend, we had a great day!

We woke up at 7:00, and had a tasty breakfast of Gallo Pinto, eggs, and fruit to start our day! We spent the first part of the morning writing thank-yous to supporters of Global Glimpse. After, we learned about some traditional Costa Rican folk tales and their lessons from our PC (program coordinator), Memo. We had fun acting them out for each other after a quick lunch break. We had a discussion about our own urban legends back home, and compared them to the ones here in Costa Rica!

Later in the day, our PC, Sonia, led a seminar about the White Savior Complex. We had a deep discussion about what it means to volunteer for a community effectively. We learned that people often do charity work for their own egos, and why it is important to understand why you want to volunteer before you begin.

We finished the day with dinner and dessert balls (see below). Thank you to our amazing chefs Diego and Rosa for the delicious food!

Hi Dad, S’mom, Amita (and Dash)! I love you guys so much, and I can’t wait to see you when I get home! Hope you’re having a great vacation, and I can’t wait to hear all about it! ❤️ 😊🦄           –Ezra <3
