Hey Everyone!!
Today we woke everyone up at 7:30 am and had some breakfast which consisted of cereal, papaya, and bananas before going to the CAP site. We finished where we left off with yesterday by mixing more cement and filling in the foundation. We also brought up 400 cinder blocks and 40 cubic meters of sand from the bottom of a hill all the way to the top!! It was a lot of hard work but we managed to complete a lot during the time frame.
Then, we headed back to the hotel to eat some lunch. Our lunch today was white rice, beans, pasta salad, and pork chops! So yummy! After our quick lunch break, we headed back to the CAP site ready to do more work but found out that we actually completed everything we needed to; there was nothing left for us to do. So instead, we said our big love and said adíos to the community. We were so sad, but we are grateful to make a difference in their lives. We will forever remember them and maybe someday see them again.
With our afternoon now free, we stopped at a local ice cream shop and enjoyed some amazing ice cream, then headed back to Dilena! We did our self-reflections about our process and the work we completed then had some free time to spare. Some of us were able to go to the supermarket and buy some snacks or drinks with some extra free time. We then had dinner, which consisted of fries covered with cheese and hotdogs along with iced tea. Now everyone is bonding together winding down for bed. We had such a long and good day and we can’t wait to see you all soon.
